Call her blessed...

Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her.
Proverbs 31:28
In honor of Mother’s Day yesterday, we wanted to share some photos of the wonderful, hard-working and inspiring moms we’ve met at Victory.
One of the best parts of our job is getting to meet people that we’re helping. We get to see and experience the difference that compassionate healthcare makes in their lives, and nothing beats that.
For mothers, in particular.

These are women who will choose to buy school supplies for their children and pass on their need prescription medications for the month. Logging long hours at work and at home to provide for their children and family. Putting themselves last. And working really, really hard.

Being able to provide a full spectrum of healthcare for these mothers is special. We see a lot of very happy moms.

Which is exactly what wanted to share with you.
Here are some of the mothers your donations have helped in our community.

A God of Abundance

My God, your God is a God of abundant blessings. He is faithful to His children and His blessings are always so much bigger than our feeble minds can imagine. Victory is counting its blessings after Hope for  Healing, our third annual Celebration Dinner held on April 30th at the Mobile Marriott. It was truly a night of great celebration and remembrance for the many ways that God has been so faithful over the last decade of service. The room was adorned with the 'people of Victory' a beautiful collage that Ron Barrett masterfully displayed and stunning arrangements from Elizabeth's Garden.

The beautiful music provided by Ginger and Mahlon McCracken and the Voices from the University of Mobile touched the hearts of our guests and was a testament to our God's glory. Dr. Scott Morris gave a spectacular keynote address which was an inspiring challenge to all the Church to reclaim our central role in the health and well-being of God's people. There were testimonies from patients, doctors, pastors and supporters on their calling to serve through Victory. Because of the generosity of our sponsors, in-kind donors and supporters; over $100,000 was raised to directly support the ministry of Victory Health Partners. Because of you, our patients will not only receive quality health care but they will be shown the healing love of our Jesus Christ. We give all honor and glory to God for His abundant blessings!

Dean's Story

My eyesight had gotten much worse since my last prescription about three years ago. Because of other financial pressures, I had not been able to get new glasses even though I was now having a lot of trouble seeing through my present glasses. I was amazed at what happened through this program and the voucher i received. I was told that I will receive a voucher and to be honest, I did not know what to expect. You can imagine my surprise and pleasure when I went to LensCrafters and presented my voucher. They treated me with the utmost respect and seemed so pleased just to be able to help me. They allowed me to choose from a very good selection of frames and had the glasses ready to pick up the same day. And, to my shock, I walked out with excellent glasses - and absolutely no cost! Thank you so much to all those who made this possible. You are a blessing to me daily.

It is because of the many partnerships and volunteers that make these stories a reality. There are hundreds of stories just like Dean's that have occurred because of the generosity of our supporters and volunteers. That is what Victory is all about, individual lives being touched by the love of Christ which is shown through our partners. From all of us at Victory, thank you to all of our partners that provide compassionate and comprehensive care to the patients we are privileged to serve.

"Volunteering at Victory Health Partners has been a wonderful experience! It is a truly caring place that appreciates all the help you can give. As a student at the University of South Alabama, it has been a wonderful learning experience to be able to work one on one with patients. Volunteering here has really been an eye opening, fun learning experience!"
-Scott

Scott is just one of the many student volunteers that bless Victory with their time and service to our patients. Victory offers volunteer opportunities to college students looking to practice medicine in their future. Volunteering with Victory is great hands on experience as students work directly with patients and gain practical training. Thank you to all of the students that have made life better for the patients we are privileged to serve!

It's simple...

"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.” John 13:34-35

I don't have insurance, so I can't...

Refill my blood pressure medication.

Speak with a counselor.

Afford to see a specialist.

Whatever the case may be, here at Victory we hear our patients define what they can and cannot do because of their lack of health insurance. It is such a blessing to be able to share with them that we can get them their prescriptions at no cost. We can get them into to see a specialist for an affordable cost. And we have counselors that will listen and care for their emotional and spiritual needs for no cost. It is truly because of a community coming together to care for a community, that we can the capacity to meet many of our patients needs.

85% of Victory's patients have a household income of less than $30,000 and pay a $25 co-pay to see the physician. The actual cost of a visit is $85-$90.

To see the dentist, Victory patients pay at least $25 less than what it would have cost them at another dental clinic without insurance.

X-rays without insurance - Beginning at $250
X-rays at Victory - Free

Mammograms without insurance - Average cost $80-$100
Mammograms through Victory - Free

Women's Wellness Exam  without insurance - Average cost $100-$250
Women's Wellness Exam at Victory - $25-$45 co-pay

Those are just a few examples of the impact the partnerships of Victory are making in the lives of our patients. Thank you to all of the specialists that so sacrificially give of their time and talent to serve our patients. Together, we will turn the 'I can't' into 'I can.'

A word from Doc

As I reflected at the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013, God showed me three small words: "How much more." Take a few moments and look these words in the following verses:

Hebrews 9:14
"How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!"

Luke 12:25-28
“Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?"

As I look back on 2012 and at the services Victory has provided, I am overwhelmed by "how much more" God has blessed Victory in 2012. But I also look forward in 2013 to "how much more" we can "serve the living God" (Hebrews 9:14).

Thanks be to God! Thanks and blessings to all of our supporters, partners and volunteers. As I heard a pastor challenge his congregation, "Intentionally engage in every conceivable good work." So our challenge is to engage that we may serve God's people. Simply put, we serve a 'how much more God!'

God Bless,

Robert D. Lightfoot, MD
